Terms 1-3: Fundamentals (January - May)
From January through May, you’ll focus on the core skills and knowledge of international business administration through coursework in marketing, organizations, economics, strategy, accounting, and finance.
You will also use this period to begin your journey of self-discovery and development during Friday Forums.
In order to build the foundation towards acheiving your career goals, you will attend several workshops and work with our Career Management Center during the Career Management CORE in the 1st Term.
For international students, optional Portuguese classes are a fantastic way to learn the local language and develop an additional skill to help set you apart in the global context.
Summer Period: MIT Immersion and Internship, Lab or Entrepreneurship Hub
Over four weeks in the month of June, you’ll tackle global issues in management and technological innovation at the Sloan School of Management. While at the MIT campus, you will have the opportunity to explore the cities of Cambridge and Boston and experience life at MIT.
Throughout July and August, you’ll gain real-world experience and additional networking opportunities with a company or organization in your chosen industry. Our Career Management Center works with you individually to identify the right internship from the start of the MBA program. If you choose not to complete a summer internship, you have the option to participate in the Portugal-China Lab or Portugal-Brazil Lab which brings together students from The Lisbon MBA and Fudan MBA or Insper respectively, on a project for an actual company. If you have Entrepreneur ambitioms, then the The Entrepreneurship Hun is the right choice. The Hub offers the students the chance to explore entrepreneurial ideas and develop practical entrepreneurial skills while taking advantage of the numerous learning opportunities, networking and mentoring that will be provided.
Terms 4 & 5: Specialization (September - December)
Returning to Lisbon at the end of August, you will have the choice to focus on a specific area of management for further coursework or diversify your options by selecting several electives. In addition, you’ll be selected to work on a live consulting case or have time to develop your own business plan through one of two mandatory courses.
Your leadership and personal development will continue through the Friday Forums and you will have the option to enroll in Career Management PLUS for additional resources and workshops to further your career goals.
The Fifth Term also brings you the Business Case Competition, where you will work in teams on solving a real-life problem for an organization with the chance for special awards. Previous business cases came from EFACEC, Grupo Pestana, UNICRE, and Saphety.
