Today’s successful managers do not only rely on technical knowledge and “hard skills” taught in the classroom to lead their organizations to achieve greatness. They understand that there are other ingredients required to effectively manage teams and organizations, such as creativity, communication, and resilience.
The Lisbon MBA Part-Time Program’s Leadership Stream curriculum focuses on these competencies and leadership abilities which top managers need to inspire teams and respond to challenges in an ever-changing world. Over the 2 year program, you will explore three sets of crucial capabilities – including interpersonal, communication, and self-development skills – through a complete set of seminars and workshops.
Organization
The Leadership Stream series is led by guest lecturers, specialized coaches and Católica | Nova alumni and is organized into three main threads:
Interactive Skills:
Interactive skills allow managers to deal with the expectations, interests, languages, and backgrounds of team members working together in the pursuit of common goals.
You will learn how to interact with diverse people in a positive and productive manner, and how to best motivate and lead teams. Moreover, you will learn to take advantage of networking activities and personal contacts.
Communication Skills:
The ability to express oneself is of crucial importance in management.
Your communication skills will improve by enriching and enlarging your range of body language and dramatic expression, by enhancing your ability to conceive and create well structured presentations, and by practicing persuasion in the presentation of ideas and projects. Additionally, you will learn how to handle difficult communication tasks – such as delivering bad news or fielding difficult questions.
Self-Development Skills:
Personal evolution requires skills as well. Self-development skills help managers improve their own performance.
As a Lisbon MBA Part-Time student, you will learn to draw up a Personal Development Program, improve your responses to time pressures and stress, and conduct a critical leadership assessment. In addition, you’ll also learn how to establish a coaching program for others, as well as the skills of performance feedback.
